Still Water I

€350.00

This work was inspired by an 1886 photograph by Peter Henry, which I came across in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It depicts small boats waiting for the tide to turn. In this painting, I aimed to capture a moment where silence, light, and time converge. The composition – a boat by the shore, the silhouette of a house, trees reflected softly in the water – evokes a sense of stillness and melancholy. At first glance, it may appear to be a simple scene, but for me, it holds something deeper: the elusive passage of time and the quiet beauty that resides within it.

This artwork was created using pencil and gouache on 300 gsm Arches paper. It comes in a high-quality Barth frame with glass and a signed passe-partout.
Outer dimensions: 21 x 29.7 cm
Image size: 16 x 24.7 cm

The painting can be picked up at my studio in Rotterdam or will be carefully packaged and shipped. Hand-signed on the back of the artwork and on the back of the frame.
