STILL WATER II

Oil and pencil on paper | 2025
Frame 21 x 29.7 cm | Painting: 16 x 24.7 cm

This work was inspired by an 1886 photograph by Peter Henry, which I came across in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It depicts small boats waiting for the tide to turn. In this painting, I aimed to capture a moment where silence, light, and time converge. The composition – a boat by the shore, the silhouette of a house, trees reflected softly in the water – evokes a sense of stillness and melancholy. At first glance, it may appear to be a simple scene, but for me, it holds something deeper: the elusive passage of time and the quiet beauty that resides within it.

This artwork was created using pencil and oil paint on 300 grams Arches paper. It comes in a high-quality Barth frame with glass and a signed passe-partout. Hand-signed on the back of the artwork and on the back of the frame.

The painting can be picked up at my studio in Rotterdam or will be carefully packaged and shipped.
