In my new studio on the Westersingel, a work began to take shape - something that had been quietly lingering beneath the surface. It was prompted by a question someone asked me a few months earlier: "Which artwork moves you the most?"

That question led me back to Käthe Kollwitz. Her raw, deeply human drawings - where love and loss are inseparable - brought a sense of recognition. I began to understand more clearly how motherhood intensifies vulnerability. To love so deeply is also to live with the constant awareness of the fragility of things.

The piece that emerged, ‘Mother and Child’, explores that fragile balance: love, care, and the ever-present shadow of loss.
